There are several measurements needed to size a
Greenland paddle.
The most important measurement is the loom
length, followed by blade width.
The length of the paddle is the least important
dimension.
Overall length of Euro paddles come in 4 inch
increment, we make paddles in 2 inch increment
offering you a wider selection and a better fit.
The measurements below are not listed in the
order of importance, just take a good look at the
pictures and have a friend help you out.
Step A. To measure the length, stand flat footed and
reach one arm straight up toward the sky as in
PICTURE
1
above.
The length should be from your middle finger joint to the
ground,We will call this
Measurement A.
Step B. Then spread your arms out level as in PICTURE 2 above.  Have a
friend measure from finger tip to finger tip.
Save this number as
Measurement B.
Step D. The most important dimension is the loom width.
Hold a paddle or a broom stick in your hands while standing in front of a mirror, see
PICTURE  4 above.
Relax and let your arms drop down until they are straight at your hips ( Relax)
Step C. Next, bend your arm at the elbow as in PICTURE 3 above and
measure your elbow to your middle finger tip.
Add this number to the number you saved in Step B, calling it
Measurement C.
Somewhere in between these two measurements (
A and C) is your
approximate
Paddle Length.
Remember this is the least important dimension so if you are off a little
don't worry.

You may compare this number with the length from the table on this page
which is based on your height.
Now raise your arms up to your shoulders, your arms from your hands to your elbows
should be plumb or slightly wider at your hands and your knuckles should be level.
The distance between the Index and Middle finger of one hand to the Index and
Middle finger of the other hand is your
Loom Dimension.
Now you should have your measurements.

Loom Length,  Blade Width, and overall  Length.
The second most important dimension is the blade width.  You need to be able to slide the
paddle through your hand until it is at the end for maximum control as in
PICTURE 6 above.
It is very important that you can get your hand around the paddle for maximum control.
See also
PICTURES 7 and 8.  You need to comfortably hold the blade.
You can also take a measurement as  shown in PICTURE 9 below.  You will
arrive at Blade Width dimension.
